Pathweavers Educational Consultants was founded in 2008 by Mrs. Martha L. Grahl (Marti) and Dr. Annyce K. Stone. Both women work in the educational field and have homeschooling families. Mrs. Grahl holds a B.A. in English from Shepherd (College) University. She and her husband Chris have been married 23 years, and they have four daughters, ages 11 - 20. The older Grahl children attended public school for some of their elementary years, and the family transitioned into homeschooling in 2001. The girls have very different interests and learning styles, so the family has tried just about every kind of homeschooling there is! Generally, the family is open and free in their learning, while a couple of girls enjoy a more structured approach. It's always an adventure, and always filled with a love and passion for learning. Dr. Stone holds a B.A. in English and Secondary Education from Shepherd (College) University, as well as an M.A. in English from Shippensburg University. Her doctorate degree, from Oral Roberts University, is in Educational Leadership. She and her husband Thomas have been married for over 20 years, and they have two sons, ages 16 and 9. The oldest attended public school until 3rd grade, when the Stones decided that home schooling would allow for an enriched educational experience, particularly with traveling. Since then, they have studied volcanoes in Hawaii and rock layers in the Grand Canyon. When at home, the boys prefer a semi-structured approach so that if adventure beckons, they can respond. In August 2008, the Maryland State Department of Education recognized the registration of Pathweavers Educational Consultants to supervise home instruction in conformity with the requirement of COMAR 13A.10.01, Home Instruction. In 2009, the Stones moved to Colorado, where they climb mountains regularly, and Dr. Stone took on a more advisory role with Pathweavers. Pathweavers is an educational ministry of Bethel United Methodist Church in Chewsville, MD. |
